Starship Troopers behind the scenes photos

Here are a couple images of the filming of "Starship Troopers" in South Dakota's Badlands.

Notice how the camera operators are protected by plexiglass while the actors fire guns at imagined "bug" enemies. It's also interesting to see the bright markers on the ground to help the actors find their spots.

At the time "Starship Troopers" was filmed this was rumored to be the largest explosion in movie history. I have never been able to confirm that, but it is a big one. Compare the size of the fireball to the crew people on the buttes and the vehicles on the valley floor.
