SD Film Festival accepting entries

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Submissions are being accepted until July 16 for the 4th annual South Dakota Film Festival (SDFF) in Aberdeen, S.D., Sept. 10-12, 2010.

“This year marks the first year that the South Dakota Film Festival has partnered with Withoutabox for the submission process. We are excited about this partnership because Withoutabox aggressively markets festivals directly to filmmakers, increasing our exposure to the global filmmaking industry,” said Troy McQuillen, co-producer of the South Dakota Film Festival.

The SDFF screens films in three categories: narrative, documentary, and animation. The categories include both short and feature-length films.

Last year’s film festival screened 30 films from 10 states and one other country, including seven from South Dakota. The international submission was from Australia.

All films chosen from eligible submissions will be screened for the public during the three-day festival. Last year, about 1,000 people attended the event.

“The SDFF is a great opportunity to have a completely different film-going experience than what the general public is used to,” McQuillen said. “Filmmakers need opportunities like this to exhibit their work to audiences.”
