DeSmet gets Today Show appearance

DeSmet, South Dakota was home to the Ingalls pioneer family longer than anywhere else they lived. Author Laura Ingalls Wilder featured the town in her series of "Little House on the Prairie" books. Somehow when actor/producer Michael Landon decided to create an iconic 1970s television show about their life, he chose another of their home sites, Walnut Grove, Minnesota as the setting.

NBC TV's "Today" show aired a report this morning on the historic sites you can still visit in DeSmet.
